about me

I’m an American journalist and travel writer based in Zürich. I’ve written for a variety of publications, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, National Geographic Traveler, Condé Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure, BBC and more. My assignments have taken me to over 100 countries where I’ve reported on travel, sustainability, food, architecture, design, urban planning, and nature. I was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts and raised in  Ponce Inlet, Florida. I studied in Burlington, Vermont where I received a B.A. in Media Studies/Writing from Burlington College. I’ve since lived in Maine and L.A. and spent ten years in New York City, much of it waiting for the F Train. I now live in Zürich, where you can find me swimming, eating cheese, and learning Swiss German. Email me at
