about me

I’m an American journalist and travel writer based in Zürich. I write for a variety of publications, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, National Geographic Traveler, Condé Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure, BBC and more. My assignments have taken me to over 100 countries where I report on travel, sustainability, food, architecture, design, and nature.

I was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts and raised in  Ponce Inlet, Florida. I studied in Burlington, Vermont where I received a B.A. in Media Studies/Writing from Burlington College. I spent ten years in New York City, much of it waiting for the F Train. I now live in Zürich, Switzerland, where you can find me swimming, eating cheese, hiking the alps, and enjoying the novelty of fully functional trams and trains. Email me at
